Love Is

I wanted to post this for Valentine's Day, but I'm still going to do so now because we should appreciate love everyday, right? Here are some of my favorite lovely love inspired items on Etsy:

And here's my own little creative contribution to love, an acrostic poem that I wrote a few years ago:

lemon scented Sundays
over coffee covered kisses.
voice of my lover
echoing babies and grey hair.

intensity in simplicity,
sleeping in his spine.

Metaphorical Home Poem

We're coming up on four years since we bought our very first home! This is a poem I wrote shortly thereafter.

The Pusher

we became friends with the pusher in September

he’s been knocking ever since

when I leave the office

I meet my husband at the red brick cape cod

on the corner of

E. Woodlawn and Tacoma

we are high by 5p.m.

he says

“dance with me”

we take off our shoes and the green grass tickles our souls

sing

climb

the

stairs

to the copper nest

we

           p

on cotton pinstripes

breathe fabric softener dreams

because we OWN

the paneled wall

that crack in the ceiling

the spot on the rug

the drafty windows

every inch

it is a pill

from the medicine cabinet

I swallow it each evening

to dissolve the day

Every Girl Needs...

Today, while at Target on my lunch hour, I could not resist buying a pink plastic tiki man cup. He was only 48 cents! While checking out, I wondered how much money I had spent in my lifetime buying items simply because they were on clearance. I probably would have a huge head start on Matty's college fund with all of those "must have" bargains!

What is the silliest purchase you ever made off of the clearance rack?

My find today reminded me of a poem I wrote almost three years ago. I wrote it after coming home from a shopping trip to, you guessed it, Target!

Enjoy!

Orange Stickers

On Saturday
afternoon,
I went out
with myself,
found my
smile amidst
the clearance items.
3 hours later
driving home,
singing all the
wrong notes,
thinking
shit
I spent
too
much,
it hit me—
I am happy.
And I can't
wait to
get home
to tell him
that I spent
too much
and to pretend
to be sorry
as he pretends
to be angry.
