Tomorrow, Matty gets his first haircut.
Tonight, Mommy is wallowing in self pity.
For weeks now, I've been telling my husband that we need to get Matty's hair cut, and now the night before, I am second guessing it.
It has to be done; his hair is a mess all of the time, but I love my lil monkey with crazy hair!
I call him baby Matty, but everyday I see just how much of "big boy" he is becoming. Before I had him, I never realized how quickly the transition from baby to boy takes place; nonetheless, I still have those locks of hair that belonged to that baby! Well at least tonight I do; tomorrow, will I even recognize the face looking back at me as I tuck him in?
Of course I will, but I'm wallowing, remember?
I think Matty sensed my sadness.
He hadn't bothered with his singing/talking rocking horse for a few months. It sits in a corner in his bedroom and sometimes he pets it, but most days, he ignores it. Tonight though, we were playing and he suddenly walks over to the horse and drags him to the center of the room. Then he clumsily tries to climb on horsey's back and reaches for me to help him. I place him on and Matty just rocks and rocks. Only he doesn't quite grasp the concept of rocking forward and backward, so he rocks side to side...it was such an awesome moment and affirmed that no matter how many "firsts" he goes through in life, he will always be my baby...

Debra you almost made me cry...Matty is growing up so fast, it's hard to believe how big he has gotten. Don't be sad though, for every great memory that you experience and put behind you a million are waiting to be made....:)))
Happy 16 months. Hang in there mama! It is a sad and happy moment all at the same time. Parenting is all about Roots and Wings, the roots are the easy part, it is the wings that get us everytime. Hugs! He will always be your baby.
Thanks guys :)
Yes, he will always be your baby. And he is adorable. I can hardly look at baby photos of my first born without crying. I miss him as a baby sooo much. He's 29 now. :) Continue to soak up all his babyness.

This brought tears to my eyes because I just looked over at my 19-month-old and my almost-4-year-old and wondered where the heck the time has gone. I hate admitting that everyone was right, but it's true, they do grow up so fast.
Good luck with the haircut and thanks so much for stopping by! :)

16 months is awesome! If we had a boy my husband wanted to grow his hair (he's polynesian and it's common). My nephew is 4 and never had it cut. He will have a hair cutting ceremony at 5. It's a big deal for them.
You have a gorgeous boy!
